The club and the player’s agent met in Milan on Thursday night, with the Rossoneri revealing that they have agreed to sign him now.
The Brazilian’s contract with the Ukrainian outfit expires in December, and it was reported that he would make the switch to Italy in January with Milan waiting to sign him on a free transfer.
However, it has now been agreed that he will move immediately and has signed a five-year deal with the club.
“AC Milan announces that it has today acquired outright the player Luiz Adriano from FC Shakhtar Donetsk, who has signed a contract which runs until June 30, 2020,” a statement on the club’s official website confirmed.
Milan have paid €8m to sign the striker, and they have beaten the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool to his signature given that the Premier League duo have constantly been linked with a move in recent months.
It remains to be seen how he fits in at his new club, with new coach Sinisa Mihajlovic having numerous options at his disposal for his forward line.
