Liverpool and Arsenal target Antoine Griezmann has spoken out about a potential switch to either of the Premier League giants.
The French winger, who has been selected by Didier Deschamps for the World Cup squad ahead of the likes of Samir Nasri, has excelled in Spain for Real Sociedad this term.
In La Liga, he’s scored 16 goals, which is an incredible return for someone who plays wide on the left, and it is his strength, power and dribbling skills cutting inside that make him such a threat from the flank – as well as a rasping shot from distance.
His form has earned him the attention of two of England’s Champions League teams for next year, but the player himself is keen to keep his feet firmly on the ground.
“I do not know,” responded Griezmann to the Daily Star when asked if he was about to play his last game for Real Sociedad, “but first we have to play against Villarreal, then the World Cup and then we’ll see. I hope to have holidays and then we’ll see what happens.”.
“If one day I leave, it will be to move to a big club. But there is still a long time for that.”
“That’s something that the club and my agent will deal with.
“I’m here enjoying myself and we’ll see what can happen. I’m focused on playing.”
A price tag of around £25m has been mooted for his services, but both Liverpool and Arsenal are expected to heavily invest in their squads this summer. The Reds need to strengthen, and have very few wide options. While Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge are all capable of playing from the wing, it is not the natural position for any of them.
Griezmann’s pace and trickery could benefit the Gunners too, who have lacked speed since Theo Walcott’s cruciate knee ligament injury sustained in January’s FA Cup victory over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
