Arsenal and Man United will be alerted by the quotes from Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain’s agent about his contract offer.
The Argentinian international had been linked with a move away from Naples this summer, with a whole host of Premier League clubs monitoring his situation.

However, with the Serie A giants adamant that the wouldn’t sell for anything less than his €94m release clause, it was revealed that they had offered him a new contract.
While that would have resulted in better terms for the striker, it would also have been a way to negotiate a reduction in his release clause.
His agent has revealed that those talks were not successful, but his client is happy to remain in Italy ahead of the new season.
“I don’t think we’ll accept the President’s offer, because the contract isn’t that different to the one we signed before, so for us it’s not a real offer,” Nicolas Higuain, his brother and representative said, as reported by Football Italia.
“We’re calm and happy to continue with the current conditions.
“At the moment, we have faith, Gonzalo will stay at Napoli, in a team which is 100 per cent focused and can win something.”
Higuain’s brother also revealed that none of the big clubs had made an official approach to sign the former Real Madrid man, but the fact that he is not going to sign a new contract extension suggests that he may see how the club improves this season and then decide on his future next year.
