However, according to reports this summer, he had been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League with Arsenal monitoring his situation, as reported by the Metro.
Furthermore, with Louis Van Gaal dropping a hint that he had a mystery striker lined up, Aubameyang’s name was widely linked with being the man set for Old Trafford.
It doesn’t appear as though that will be the case as his new five-year deal will be a huge boost for Dortmund as they look to regroup this summer after Jurgen Klopp’s departure.
In contrast, Arsene Wenger could well be left disappointed with the news with the Gunners still searching for a forward to provide competition for Olivier Giroud.
That search will now take them elsewhere, with new Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel hopeful that Aubameyang will fire the goals to lead him and the team to success in the upcoming campaign.
