Oxford has been touted as the new Rio Ferdinand, being a fine young central defender emerging through the system at Upton Park, and is already a regular for the club’s Under 21 side and has captained England Under 17s.
This potential has already alerted both Manchester United and Arsenal, both of whom are hoping that they can secure Oxford – a prospect that looks far more likely now that he appears to have decided that his future lies away from East London.
