How a team made up of stars from both clubs would look.
It’s the first competitive encounter of the 2014/15 season for Arsenal and Manchester City as they go head-to-head in the Community Shield on Sunday.
The Gunners won the FA Cup last term to be here, whilst City secured their second English title in three years to book their place against the North Londoners.
So in anticipation of the match fanatix thought to would be good to put together a combined XI of the two clubs.
GK – Wojciech Szczesny
Sneaking in ahead of Joe Hart based on their respective form over the past 12 months is the Pole, who has proven most doubters wrong in recent times with his fine showings between the sticks.
RB – Pablo Zabaleta
There is something of a link between the two sides at right-back with Bacary Sagna having swapped the Emirates Stadium for Eastlands this summer, but for us Zabaleta takes the place ahead of the 31-year-old and his fellow France international Mathieu Debuchy.
CB – Vincent Kompany
The Citizens captain now who was named in the 2013/14 PFA Team of the Year for his performances and Kompany is widely considered to be among the best centre-backs in world football.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
Alongside the Belgium international is a 28-year-old who possesses more technical nous than his central defensive partner Per Mertesacker and has proven his credentials over the past year.
LB – Aleksandar Kolarov
It’s a tough one to call at left-back between Kolarov and Kieran Gibbs, but for sheer experience we’re giving this one to the Serbian.
