Both Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in AS Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, but the French giants are determined that their star player will not be leaving on the cheap.
The Colombian forward favours a move to Real Madrid but, according to the Daily Mail, the two Premier League giants have also been in talks over a potential deal.
Monaco have quoted interested parties an extraordinary fee of £20m to take the player on a year’s loan, while any side that were to sign him would have to pay the entirety of his £200,000-per-week wages.
According to the source, the 28-year-old wants to leave Monaco after a year and hopes to join Real Madrid – but the Spanish club have thus far been reluctant to commit anymore of their summer transfer budget.
If Falcao can’t move to Madrid he wants a loan move to keep open the option of moving to the current Champions League holders. Liverpool could not convince him to come to Anfield – signing Mario Balotelli instead – but it is thought City and Arsenal would be attractive options.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker to replace the injured Olivier Giroud, while City could allow Alvaro Negredo to leave if they can sign Falcao.
