Champions join Gunners in chase for Maher.
Arsenal and Manchester City are interested in a summer deal for AZ Alkmaar teenager Adam Maher, according to the Daily Mail.
The tabloid reports that City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain has already held talks with the playmaker and invited Maher to attend a game at the Etihad Stadium.
There is no mention of the level of Arsenal’s interest.
Tottenham have reportedly previously been linked with the 19-year-old, who has already earned three senior caps for the Netherlands and is valued at £10m by the Eredivisie outfit.
Moroccan-born Maher has bagged seven goals in 24 appearances from an attacking midfield role for AZ this term, and the Mail believes the youngster could be a direct replacement for Samir Nasri at Eastlands.
Meanwhile, City boss Roberto Mancini has not given up hope of winning the Premier League, despite trailing leaders Manchester United by 12 points with ten games remaining.
“It’s not impossible in football. One or two weeks can change everything.
“For this reason we should be confident for the Premier League.
“If they are so strong that they will win all their games then okay, but if they lose one or two games or a point then we should be ready to take this opportunity.”
