Vlades has been the first-choice keeper between the sticks at the Nou Camp since the 2003/04 season, and has racked up 507 appearances in total, and an enormous collection of trophies and medals.
Arsenal and Manchester City could both be in the market for an experienced operator, and Valdes could provide a cheap, realistic option come the end of the year.
Wojciech Szczesny is Arsenal’s no.1, but occasionally suffers from concentration lapses. Valdes could come in as a mentor for the young Pole, but shoring up the position for the time being.
The Spanish stopper could also come in at City and replace Joe Hart – who has started this season in the dodgy form he left the last. Sky Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini tried to sign Malaga keeper Willy Caballero in the summer, so it could be that he does not trust the Englishman anyway.
Valdes would demand very high wages, but both Arsenal and City have the finances to cover them.
it could be that this time next year another world-renowned player is playing Premier League football.
