Both Premier League sides are interested in Torino’s Cerci.
Torino attacker Alessio Cerci has been impressing in Italy this season and Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in signing the £16m rated winger, according to the Daily Star.
The 26-year-old has scored eight goals in Serie A already this term and United have been monitoring the player for several months in view of making a move.
However, whilst Red Devils boss David Moyes was hoping to think over the possibility, the Scot may be forced to make a January switch now that the Gunners have entered the fray.
Arsene Wenger is also a keen admirer of the Italy international, as both sides look to strengthen their attack in the New Year.
Torino don’t want to let Cerci leave, but with negotiations over a new contract proving difficult, the club may be forced to sell – but will not settle for anything less than £16m.
The Italian can play on the right flank or in a No.10 role behind the striker, with the player’s passing and creativity proving to be highly successful this campaign.
Moyes wants to freshen things up at Old Trafford, with the 50-year-old having failed to bring in any new talent other than midfielder Marouane Fellaini in the summer.
There are question marks over the futures of Shinji Kagawa, Nani and Wilfried Zaha at Old Trafford, while Ashley Young has looked low on confidence and form in 2013/14.
The sale of any of these would allow the manager to sign new stars such as Cerci and begin to put the coach’s own stamp on the squad, rather than recycling Sir Alex Ferguson’s tactics.
