Wolfsburg’s Diego has revealed the Premier League duo that want the South American.
Wolfsburg playmaker Diego is out of contract next summer and claims that both Arsenal and Southampton want the Atletico Madrid target.
The 28-year-old will be available on a free transfer from the Bundesliga club and has revealed that a switch to the Premier League would greatly interest the Brazilian.
“I know there is interest from Premier League clubs. I have heard Arsenal is one of them,” Diego told the Sun.
“It would be the ideal destination for me because their style suits my characteristics perfectly. Of course I would say ‘yes’ to Arsenal.
“Southampton have great organisation and discipline and big talents like Adam Lallana. But again there is nothing concrete.
“Playing in England is a very attractive option at the peak of my career but I’m focusing on helping Wolfsburg get to the Champions League.”
The Brazil international has had a varied career to date, playing for the likes of FC Porto, Werder Bremen, Atletico and Juventus.
However, the South American has caused controversy as well, falling out with the Juve directors after making the £20m switch to Serie A and also being sent on-loan to Atleti following a bust-up with then Wolfsburg manager Steve McClaren.
That being said, Diego is also a clear talent and as well as having earned 34 caps for the Brazil national team, has provided over 100 assists and scored 97 goals so far in countries such as Germany, Spain and Italy.
