Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to go head to head at the end of the season in order to sign in-demand AS Saint Etienne front man Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the player’s agent.
The Daily Mail’s story appears to come from quotes attributed to agent Oscar Damiani by Inter Milan news website FCInterNews.it, who claimed to have spoken to Damiani directly. The Mail do not print any of the quotes.
“In Italy, Fiorentina are in there,” Damiani told FCInterNews, after confirming he had spoken with Internazionale about his client.
“In Germany there are a couple of clubs, while in the Premier League there is confirmed interest from Newcastle, Tottenham, Manchester City and Arsenal.”
The massive Gabon international has been attracting attention from a whole host of big-name clubs from across the continent for some time now, and ASSE may have to consider cashing in on their prized asset come the summer.
The 23 year-old attacker is valued by footballer database transfermarkt at £8.8m, but with plenty of interest from around Europe, the likely bidding war could result in an inflated fee.
Aubameyang has scored 18 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for Les Verts this season and he has all the attributes to be a huge success should he opt to move to the English top flight next season.
