Ex-Baggie could be heading to the capital this summer.
North-London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are set to go head to head in order to sign in-form Fiorentina midfield player Borja Valero at the end of the season, according to reports on talkSPORT.
The 28-year-old has enjoyed a fine career on the Continent since spending two uneventful seasons in the Premier League with West Bromwich Albion between 2008 and 2010.
And, it is those eye-catching displays in the middle of the park that have even led to Valero being surprisingly called up by World and European champions Spain, with the player making his La Roja debut against the United States in Foxborough, Massachusetts in June 2011.
Whether it be for Real Mallorca and Villarreal in La Liga or his current employers in Serie A, Valero’s skills as a ball-playing central midfield player have really caught the eye, so much so that both Spurs and Arsenal are said to be keen to sign him when the transfer window reopens on June 1.
Valero’s current contract in Florence runs until May 30 2016 and he is expected to fetch at least £15 million on the open market, although it may very well depend on which of the two London rivals is competing in next season’s Champions League as to where the player’s destination is next season, the Emirates or White Hart Lane.
