Both Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are reportedly keeping close tabs on up-and-coming Feyenoord midfield player Jordy Clasie, the player who has been dubbed in some quarters in the Netherlands as “the new Xavi”.
The 21-year-old Netherlands international has been likened to the veteran Barcelona player because of their similar playing styles, with both men liking to sit deep in front of their respective back fours acting as a constant free option for the ball – whether to ease pressure on the defence or begin attacks.
Despite having only broken into the Feyenoord first team three years ago, during which time the midfield player has played in just 55 Eredivisie matches for the Dutch giants, Clasie has still shown enough promise to have been called up to the Oranje national team, for who he has already made five appearances since his full debut last year.
Having demonstrated such potential and progress, there is little wonder both north London rivals are so keen to persuade the player to swap Rotterdam for the English capital at the end of this season – though the Daily Express add that Manchester United may also be keen.
