Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur will have to consider just how much they want to sign Brazilian attacking midfielder Douglas Costa, with the Express reporting that his club, Shakhtar Donetsk, a demanding a huge £40 million fee for the player’s transfer.
Both Premier League rivals had reportedly been considering a move for Costa, a player who is one of a number at Shakhtar to reportedly be unsettled due to the volatile political situation in the region.
Club official Sergei Palkin confirmed that it would take a huge bid to lure the Brazilian away, as he seemed to look to deter any official bids from the Premier League:
“Everyone says that Costa’s goodbye is close, but the club has not received any proposals and his buyout clause is €50million.”
Whether Arsene Wenger would be willing to part with such a significant sum having already bought one expensive attacking midfielder, Alexis Sanchez, this summer remains to be seen, whilst it would also take a huge chunk out of Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino’s transfer kitty.
