Marica could be close to a move to England.
Former Schalke 04 striker Ciprian Marica has been targeted by clubs such as Arsenal, Fiorentina and West Ham United since leaving the Bundesliga outfit at the end of last season.
The Romania international is a free agent and the Gunners appear to be leading the race to make the north London side’s third free acquisition this year – along with Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini.
Marica has revealed that it is true that the 27-year-old is discussion with three different teams and that the forward will announce which one the Romanian will be joining within the week.
“I am in negotiations with three teams,” the attacker was quoted in the Daily Star.
“I hope I will be able to tell you the name of my next team by the end of next week.”
Marica has hardly been in prolific form in Germany since joining Stuttgart from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2007, before moving onto Schalke in 2011.
In fact during a career that stretches back to 2003 and across three different countries, the striker has only netted 58 times in all competitions.
For Romania that record is slightly better with Marica scoring 22 goals in 71 appearances for the forward’s country.
Fiorentina are desperate for more options up-front since new signing Mario Gomez was sidelined with a long-term injury.
However, it is a similar story for Arsene Wenger’s men as although Olivier Giroud has been in fine form this term – netting four Premier League goals in as many matches – if the Frenchman were unavailable for any reason, the only alternatives are youngster Sanogo and the unreliable Nicklas Bendtner.
