Michy Batshuayi wants to join Gunners.
Standard Liege wonderkid Michy Batshuayi says Arsenal are one of the clubs of his ‘dreams’.
The 20-year-old has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in 17 Jupiler League games and is attracting interest from a host of big clubs across the continent.
Arsenal are in the market for a reasonably-priced back up to current first choice striker Olivier Giroud and have been linked with a move for the 6’1″ youngster in January.
With one goal and two assists in four UEFA Europa League appearances this term, Batshuayi’s success is not limited to the lower standards of the Belgian domestic league, and still just 20 he could be expected to make the step up.
And Batshuayi has admitted that he is likely to leave Belgium in the near future and says Arsenal and Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund are the clubs of his ‘dreams’.
He told Het Laatste Nieuws: “I don’t think I think will be playing in Belgium next season. My parents, especially my dad, think I’m ready for the next step.
“This summer there was some interest, but I decided I didn’t want to leave Standard without leaving a trace – being champion or being top scorer.
“I’ve two dreams clubs in Europe – Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund. Borussia because of their mix between quality and spirit, Arsenal because they give opportunities to young and talented players.”
But despite admitting the Gunners are interested, Standard Liege’s president Roland Duchatelet says any move will have to wait until next summer.
“What is new is the interest of Arsenal, although Arsenal are just one of many clubs who are chasing our striker Michy. Anyway, we are not willing to let go Michy this season,” he said.
