The Italy international has spent his entire career with Juve – aside from a loan spell with Empoli to learn his trade – and leaving Turin would be a big step.
However, thanks to the rapid improvement of Paul Pogba and continued brilliance of both Arturo Vidal and Andrea Pirlo, Marchisio does not play as regularly as he might like.
It is therefore unsurprising that he is being linked with a move elsewhere, and the 27 year-old’s box-to-box style could certainly suit the English Premier League.
Manchester United manager David Moyes’ quest to sign a central midfielder has been well documented, with the Red Devils playing out a large amount of their summer transfer business in public.
That meant the world knew of failed attempts to bring Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara, Luka Modric and Ander Herrera to Old Trafford, and in the end Moyes brought Marouane Fellaini to the club for a price higher than his minimum fee release clause – illustrating the Belgian was a clear last resort choice.
Arsenal’s midfield is in fact much stronger, but aside from Mathieu Flamini there is no one really capable of providing a physical presence in the centre.
Claudio Marchisio could solve problems for both David Moyes and Arsene Wenger.
