Arsenal’s hopes of signing Paris Saint-Germain ace Edinson Cavani have received a major boost, according to reports.
The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Uruguayan international during the off-season, however, it was claimed the Premier League club baulked at the Ligue 1 club’s £50m asking price.
According to reports in Spain, Cavani is now extremely keen for a move away from the Parisian club and Arsenal could look to pounce during the winter transfer window.
Arsene Wenger insisted Arsenal were looking to sign an attacker before the end of the summer window, however, Chelsea gloveman Petr Cech was the club’s only major signing of the off-season.
Arsenal are in need to bolster its front third, with Wenger keen to take some the goalscoring responsibility off the shoulders of Olivier Giroud.
Despite the need for attacking depth, Wenger has shown he will not pay overs for Cavani, with the Frenchman reportedly wary that the 29-year-old will not provide the club any re-sale value.
