Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to complete a deal for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev, reports suggest.
Cheryshev has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield this summer, however, Metro [via Fichajes] suggests Wenger has asked the Gunners board to free up funds to sign the Russian international.
The 24-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu, and it seems Arsenal have not been deterred by reports of a £14.7m bid from Liverpool.
Real Madrid are understood to be demanding £15.3m for the speedster – a fee Arsenal should have no trouble matching.
Cheryshev is yet to make a La Liga appearance with Real Madrid, but scored four goals in 26 appearances on loan with Villarreal to help the club to a sixth-placed finish last term.
The pacy winger has won seven caps for Russia since making his international debut in 2012.
