The Frenchman had been tipped to make a move for the player over the summer, but for one reason or another a concrete offer failed to materialise.
However, with news emerging from the French capital claiming the player might look to leave in the new year, Wenger’s comments over the weekend has alluded to him making a move for the 27-year-old.
“I love him as a player,” the Gunners boss said on TF1.
“I love the Matador’s attitude on the field. But I think he’s playing a little with the brake pulled up.
“I think at PSG is he not able to give his best, perhaps because of the presence of Ibrahimovic. He is able to influence at all levels in a team and there is little room for an attacker around him.”
Cavani is still apparently unhappy at playing second fiddle to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Paris and has not given up on the idea of a swift exit in the new year.
