Frenchman is keen to seal deal for Argentinian as soon as possible.
Arsenal have moved a step closer to sealing a £20 million summer move for highly-rated Real Madrid front man Gonzalo Higuain after Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger went to Paris to meet with the player and his father, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The Argentina international will definitely be leaving the Spanish capital when the transfer window finally reopens for business once again on July 1, with the Liga champions having already agreed to let the player leave after seven seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.
And, during that time the 25-year-old has proved himself to be one of the deadliest marksmen on the Continent, netting an impressive 122 strikes in 266 matches for los Blancos, including 106 strikes in just 188 Liga contests.
As a result, Wenger has decided to make the forward his number one striking target of the summer, flying to the French capital to meet both the player himself and his father and agent Jorge in order to push through the deal quickly before the likes of Juventus enter the frame for his signature.
