Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has set his sights on signing Barcelona defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets, according to reports.
Wenger is understood to still be keen to bolster his squad ahead of the new season, and Daily Express [via Sport] reports Wenger has made Busquets his priority signing this summer.
The Gunners are reportedly willing to meet the 27-year-old’s wage demands, however Barcelona will be desperate to hold onto of its key men.
Arsenal currently have the impressive Francis Coquelin in the defensive midfield role, however despite the Frenchman’s breakout season last term it seems Wenger is keen to strengthen his side in the middle of the park.
The North London club are certainly not short of funds this summer, with club director Lord Harris last week suggesting Wenger had a £200m war chest to use in the transfer market.
Busquets has made 212 La Liga appearances for the Catalan giants since making his first-team debut in 2008.
