Benzema has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer, and it seems Wenger is becoming ever more desperate to bring his fellow countrymen to the Emirates.
Highly respected COPE reporter Paco Gonzalez says Wenger has contacted Benzema over the phone in regards to a move to Arsenal.
PACO GONZÁLEZ:”Wenger ha vuelto a llamar este verano a Benzema, pero no quiere salir del Madrid. Jesé tampoco. Están encantados con Mayoral”

It is believed Real Madrid are keen to hold onto Benzema, and Gonzalez says the former Lyon man is happy to remain in Spain.
It’s a hammer blow for Wenger and he may now turn his attention to other targets such as Lyon forward Alexandre Lacazette.
According to The Independent, negotiations over a new contract have stalled between Lacazette and the Ligue 1 giants and the Gunners could look to take advantage of the situation with a £28m bid.
