Speaking to the assembled media, as reported by Sky Sports, the Gunners boss was discussing his options ahead of what is a pivotal game for the club’s chances of advancing to the knockout stages of the tournament.
Wenger’s men currently sit bottom of Group F after losing their opening two games against Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos, and they now face a double-header against the Bundesliga champions knowing that two defeats will end their hopes of progressing.
Having caused controversy with his decision to start David Ospina instead of Petr Cech against Olympiakos, which later forced him to explain his choice, as reported by The Express, Wenger is evidently keen to avoid any similar talking points this time round.
In turn, that makes the Premier League outfit a dangerous proposition for Pep Guardiola, as the Spaniard will be fully aware of the fact that Arsenal will be desperate secure all three points in Tuesday night’s encounter.
The Gunners will be buoyed by their domestic form as their 3-0 win over Watford on Saturday moved them back up to second place and just two points behind league leaders Manchester City. However, they know that they must now translate that success onto the European stage too.
