Reports in the Daily Mail carry quotes from the Gunners boss, whose side missed out on topping their group on goal difference, meaning they face a potentially tougher tie in the Last 16.
By finishing below Borussia Dortmund, who drew 1-1 with Anderlecht to match Arsenal’s tally of 13 points from six games, the Gunners face the prospect of a match against eal Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Bayern Munich, Porto or Monaco.
Wenger explained: “We had two favourites (in the group) who responded to the fact that they were favourites,” Wenger told reporters. “There are more regrets (about losing) at Dortmund tonight.
“At home we did the job well and overall we won four games in the group. Perhaps at Anderlecht at home we can regret.”
The Frenchman was however impressed with Aaron Ramsey’s goal of the season contender against their Turkish opponents: “When he took the shot I thought that’s maybe not the best of ideas but the way it went in was absolutely unbelievable.”
