Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is reportedly preparing a £18m bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.
According to the Independent, the Gunners are in the hunt for Bender once again after failed efforts to land the versatile German midfielder on multiple occasions dating back to 2013. The 26-year-old has played as a central midfielder and as a defensive midfielder for the Bundesliga club over his 156-match career.
Bender has played his entire professional career in Germany, getting his big break with 1860 Munchen in 2006 before signing a three-year deal with Bayer Leverkusen and later earning a six-year contract extension that runs through 2019. Leverkusen.
As a youth player, Bender received the Fritz Walder Gold Medal for U17 players in 2006 and was named the Golden Player of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2008.
