Arsene Wenger insists Wilshere’s goal is better than Kasami.
Arsene Wenger says Jack Wilshere’s goal against Norwich City deserves to be crowned goal of the season ahead Pajtim Kasami’s wonder-strike for Fulham at Crystal Palace.
Wilshere finished a stunning team move with a devastating display of tiki-taka with Santi Cazorla and Olivier Giroud to opening the scoring as Arsenal beat the Canaries 4-1 on Saturday.
The goal has been hailed as one of the best in Premier League history but even Wilshere was forced to admit it may have been overshadowed by Kasami’s stunner, reminiscent of Marco van Basten’s famous volley for Holland in at Euro ’88, on Monday night.
The England midfielder tweeted:
Well there’s my ‘goal of the month’ prize gone!!!! Take a bow! #Player #MNF

But Wenger disagrees with his player, stressing that Wilshere’s goal was one of a kind.
“Kasami scored an exceptional goal but many players can score a goal like that. To score a goal like Wilshere’s is more difficult.”
