It may be a buyer’s market at Emirates Stadium as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is poised to sell several stars to fund a summer spending spree.
According to the Metro and the Sun, Wenger is willing to put up any combination of Lukas Podolski, David Opsina, Carl Jenkinson, Mathieu Flamini, Joel Campbell and Yaya Sanogo for sale in order to add a high-quality central midfielder and/or striker to his arsenal (pun intended). Wenger nearly broke the bank with the acquisition of star goalkeeper Petr Cech just last week, and with more offense needed in order to get over the hump and into the conversation of the Premier League Championship, the Arsenal boss will apparently go all out.
Though none of those six are expected to garner a ton of money, their sale would both free up space for any of Wenger’s targets on the roster while also giving him some flexibility in major bids.
It’s worth noting that neither Podolski, Opsina, Jenkinson, Flamini, Campbell or Sanogo are projected to be starters next season, and four of them were loaned out this past season.
