Arsenal transfer news.
Sanchez sat out the 5-0 demolition of Aston Villa in the Premier League last Sunday, but it was thought the club’s top-scorer would be ready to return for the White Hart Lane clash.
However, Wenger has put and end to that hope and the Gunners will now have to take on their old rivals without arguably their most in-form player.
“The latest is that Alexis is not ready. He is not far away, the Leicester [City game on February 10] game is a possibility. He is of course very difficult to keep quiet! He is training but it’s light training,” the Frenchman told the club’s website.
Sanchez has been in fine form for Wenger’s men since joining the club from FC Barcelona over the summer in a £35m deal, scoring 18 goals in all competitions so far this season.
However, the North Londoners seemed to cope more than adequately against Villa without the 26-year-old, with Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott particularly impressing.
