Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has already met with Mino Raiola, the agent of brilliant Italian striker Mario Balotelli, to discuss a possible summer transfer, ITV Sport reports.
The 23-year-old striker has been linked with a £25m transfer to the Emirates when the season ends, and it could be that Arsenal’s boss is already putting the wheels of a mammoth transfer in motion.
The Italian maverick has recently signed with sports manufacturers Puma, who are similarly sponsoring Arsenal from next season onwards, and there are suggestions that Puma could be willing to bankroll the transfer to unite Balotelli with the Gunners.
Arsenal desperately need a new striker, and currently only have Nicklas Bendtner as backup to Olivier Giroud. While the Frenchman is effective up top, he falls below the world-class bracket of Premier League forwards such as Luis Suarez, Sergio Aguero and Robin van Persie.
Rumours are continuing to circulate that the striker himself is unhappy in Italy, and is not prepared to go without Champions League football next term. Milan currently sit 11th, and look very unlikely to finish in the top three come the end of the season.
Arsenal will almost definitely finish in England’s top four, and a potential transfer could therefore suit all parties if a fee could be agreed.
