Galatasaray hopeful of bringing Arsenal’s Germany international star to Turkey.
Arsenal could sell forward Lukas Podolski after just a year in north London, with Galatasaray considering a £12 million bid for the Germany international star according to the Metro.
The Turkish giants have identified the 27 year-old as their top summer transfer target, with Podolski’s thirteen goals and ten assists this season illustrating his clinical finishing and creativity in attacking positions.
Galatasaray will compete with Juventus, Anzhi Makhachkala and Bayer 04 Leverkusen to sign the winger-cum-striker, but appear confident of adding to their new-Galacticos including Wesley Sneijder and Didier Drogba.
Podolski enjoyed a fine beginning to his Gunners career, but apart from his team’s most recent game against Manchester United when Olivier Giroud was suspended, the last time he started a game for Arsene Wenger’s side was in the 1-3 UEFA Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium.
Since he and captain Thomas Vermaelen were dropped from the Arsenal line-up, the team’s form has dramatically improved. Apart from the 2-1 defeat to rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby, the Gunners are unbeaten, and Podolski faces a big decision.
The German must either fight for his place at Emirates Stadium, or seek a new challenge elsewhere.
