Emirates Stadium defensive star wanted by La Liga club as part of summer transfer window recruitment.
Arsenal’s left-back Nacho Monreal has been linked with a move back to La Liga with Athletic Bilbao showing an interest in signing him according to the Daily Express.
Monreal is a second choice left-back at the Emirates behind England’s Kieran Gibbs, and some reports suggest that he may be willing to return to his home country for regular football.
The 28-year old may have played 36 games in all competitions for the Gunners last season, of which 23 were in the Premier League, but when Gibbs is fit he is undoubtedly one of the first names on Arsene Wenger’s team sheet.
Bilbao are reportedly looking to sign the former Malaga man for a cut-price deal or on loan if the Gunners do not wish to sell him.
It is hard to see Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger letting go of the attack minded defender though, as he will need the Spaniard to stay as a capable backup for the injury prone Kieran Gibbs.
Monreal only joined the Gunners in January 2013, and could yet prove to be a valuable addition to the squad.
