The Bulgarian striker is unhappy and will seek a move at the next possible opportunity, according to his representative Emil Dantchev.
“I don’t usually speculate as nobody knows what will happen in January but what I can tell you is he (Berbatov) is not happy at Fulham,” said Dantchev told the Daily Express.
“He would like, if possible, to find another option.”
“I cannot comment (on whether there has been any approach) but the priority is to find a solution to stay in England.”
The Express link Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool to Berbatov’s signature, with each requiring a striker for different reasons.
Arsene Wenger’s first choice hitman Olivier Giroud has been brilliant all season, but in his absence Nicklas Bendtner is next in the pecking order.
Liverpool have lost Daniel Sturridge to injury and as a result Brendan Rodgers’ only reliable goal-getter is Luis Suarez, thanks to Iago Aspas’ underwhelming start to his Reds career.
Chelsea meanwhile have a plethora of strikers to select from.
Jose Mourinho has Samuel Eto’o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba as forward options, but none of them are particularly consistent in front of goal.
Whether the answer to any of these quandaries is Dimitar Berbatov remains to be seen, but there will likely be plenty of transfer rumours around the former Manchester United striker until his future is resolved.
