Atletico Madrid have no intention of raiding Emirates Stadium, Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford.
Atletico Madrid are not interested in signing Arsenal playmaker Santi Cazorla, Chelsea forward Fernando Torres or Manchester United’s poacher Javier Hernandez, despite strong links over the past few days.
After winning La Liga and finishing runner up in the UEFA Champions League last season, Atleti have already lost the spine of their most successful team in recent history.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has gone back to parent club Chelsea after three years on loan, while the Blues have also lured Filipe Luis and Diego Costa to Stamford Bridge. David Villa has also left for new MLS club NYCFC, but he and Costa have been replaced by Antoine Griezmann and Mario Mandzukic at Estadio Vicente Calderon.
However, those crucial parts of last term’s side will not be replaced by Gunners star Cazorla, Chelsea’s Torres, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez of Manchester United or Jose Callejon of Napoli.
“Many names have been mentioned, but none of those players, neither Cazorla, Callejon, Torres nor Chicharito are on our agenda,” Atleti president Enrique Cerezo is quoted by the Daily Mail as having told Radio Marca.
“If we sign another player, it won’t be any of them.”
