Real Madrid midfielder could make Ligue 1 switch.Arsenal and Chelsea could be set to miss out on the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, with the Daily Mirror reporting that he could be offered to AS Monaco this summer.
The German international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League after slipping down in the pecking order at the Bernabeu, though it could now be that he will be heading to Ligue 1 in this transfer window, as a makeweight in a deal for Madrid to sign James Rodriguez.
The Colombian winger was one of the stars of this summer’s World Cup, scoring six goals for his country to finish as the top scorer in Brazil, and has since become one of the world’s most sought-after talents.
Although the 23-year-old won’t come cheap, Real are hoping than an offer to sign Khedira as part of the deal can lower Monaco’s asking price, and help push a transfer through.
Khedira, 27, has been at the Bernabeu since 2010, winning La Liga in 2012 before enjoying a great season with both the Champions League for Real and the World Cup for Germany this summer.
