Prolific Porto star decides on move to Atletico Madrid.Arsenal and Chelsea target Jackson Martinez is reportedly set to confirm his move from Porto to Atletico Madrid after this summer’s World Cup, according to Fichajes.net.
The 27-year-old, currently on international duty in Brazil with Colombia, has established himself as one of the most dangerous forward players in Europe over the last few years, scoring 60 goals in 91 appearances for the Portuguese giants since his arrival.
His fine goalscoring form has seen him linked with a number of big clubs around Europe in recent times, and it now seems that Atletico Madrid have won the race for his signature as they look to bring in a top class replacement for Chelsea-bound Diego Costa.
Chelsea had been one of the clubs interested in Martinez, but have seemingly cooled their interest after all-but securing the signing of Costa, while Arsenal have reportedly switched their focus to Loic Remy of Queens Park Rangers to solve their problems upfront.
Martinez has scored two goals in two appearances at this year’s World Cup so far, helping Colombia through to the last 16 of the competition.
