Arsenal transfer rumours
The French international has been one of the stand-out performers in the Premier League this season, looking like one of the best defensive midfielders in the English top flight after a series of strong displays for Koeman’s side.
This has inevitably led to some interest from bigger clubs, with Koeman now quoted in the Daily Star as saying the club have to take it as a compliment that their best players are being linked with moves away.
The Dutchman also stated that it will be up to the 25-year-old himself to decide his future at the end of this season if offers do come in from bigger sides when the transfer window re-opens in the summer.
“It will be hard when there is real interest in the player. It is up to the player what he likes to do,” the Southampton boss said.
“It is very hard but normally if we have the season like we have so far there will be interest in the players of Southampton.
“If he gets a big offer from a big team, there is always interest for the player and I understand that.
“That is normal, we know our level and that is a compliment for the players and the club.”
