Wenger does not see Vela as part of the Gunners’ future.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has passed on yet another chance to sign one of his former players in Carlos Vela, and has instead chosen to sell the buy-back clause on the Mexican for £10 million, according to the Daily Star.
While the French boss has made good money by selling the clause he inserted some two years ago while selling the 25-year old to Real Sociedad, the 64-year-old’s lack of transfer activity despite opportunities presenting themselves have gotten the fans of the club worried.
Vela was not a success in the Premier League when he played for the Gunners, and despite having had an impressive three years with Sociedad where he netted 48 goals and assisted 29, Wenger is still not convinced about the Mexican’s ability to shine in England.
Vela’s market value has gone up many notches over the last few years though, which has enabled Wenger to make good business on his former player even by just giving up the buy-back option.
