Higuain has scored 28 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions this season, but Metro reports that the Argentine international has struggled to settle into life at the Italy.
The 27-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to the Gunners in recent months, but it is believed Manchester United have also enquired about the former Real Madrid man.
According to Metro, Napoli would be willing to sell Higuain for a fee in the region of £42m, but Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger stated this week that he would not be paying “stratospheric” fees for players this summer.
Italian football journalist Tancredi Palmeri confirmed Arsenal has been in contact with Napoli over the possible transfer of Higuain.

Arsenal have also been linked with Real Madrid hitman Karim Benzema, and the signing of either player would surely send Olivier Giroud out the exit door at the Emirates.
