The Gunners are now expected to beat Liverpool to Sanchez.
Arsenal are poised to sign Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez and Southampton enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin, according to reports in the Daily Express.
The Gunners have been linked with moves for several top players this summer, and it seems as though their boss Arsene Wenger is intent on signing Sanchez and Schneiderlin to kick-start his transfer business this window.
Not so long ago, Merseysiders Liverpool were believed to be favourites to sign Chilean ace Sanchez, reportedly as part of a deal for their star striker Luis Suarez moving to the Camp Nou, but Wenger is now set to pip the Reds to the signing.
Also on Wenger’s shopping list for the summer is French international Morgan Schneiderlin, who has hinted at a move away from the St Mary’s Stadium this summer.
The 24-year old enforcer is highly rated by Wenger, who reckons that the former Strasbourg man is the ideal long term replacement for his Spanish veteran Mikel Arteta, 32.
Schneiderlin expressed his desire to play at a more ambitious club by saying, “Listen, I’m aware of Southampton’s situation.
“On a personal level, the club know my position and know what I want to do. I had a good conversation with all the directors. I’ve been there for a long time now.
“We’ll see how things go, but the directors know my position and what my intentions are. Everyone has ambitions, everyone has his own future in his hands, so we’ll see. Every player wants to play on big occasions.”
