French manager scouting Schneiderlin at the World Cup.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is getting serious about a move for Southampton enforcer Morgan Schneiderlin, according to the Mirror.
The 64-year old boss has been watching his compatriot do the anchorman’s job admirably for the Saints, and possibly believes that the former Strasbourg man is the right replacement for Arsenal’s 32-year-old Mikel Arteta, who is not getting any younger.
Wenger has been watching Schneiderlin closely whilst fulfilling his media commitments at the World Cup in Brazil, and is impressed enough with the midfielder to make a move for him.
Schneiderlin too is keen on a move to a more ambitious club after seeing some of the best players at Southampton in Luke Shaw, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana leave the South Coast side this summer.
Wenger would not find it easy to prise away Schneiderlin from the Saints though as he is rated at £20 million by his current side, who are bracing themselves to play hardball with Arsenal.
