The Gunners are ready to land El Shaarawy.
After being sidelined at the San Siro, AC Milan and Arsenal look close to completing a secret deal for striking sensation Stephan El Shaarawy, reports Le 10 Sport.
Despite being the Serie A club’s top-scorer last term, with 16 goals in the league alone, the 21-year-old appears to have fallen out-of-favour at Milan and has started just two matches this campaign.
The Gunners are among a host of Premier League clubs that also includes Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City, that are interested in signing the forward.
Yet it is the north London side’s lack of attacking depth that makes them the most keen to land the Italy international.
Although striker Olivier Giroud has been in great touch this season, any injury to the Frenchman would leave only Nicklas Bendtner and Yaya Sanogo as available cover.
Arsene Wenger did look into signing Luis Suarez from Anfield, but El Shaarawy would be a snip of the price of the £50m expected to land the Uruguayan, with a value of around £26m.
The Italian is also a lot younger and would represent a greater prospect for the future, but of course has less top-class experience than Suarez – despite having played in the Champions League and top tier of Italy.
El Shaarawy is currently sidelined with a foot injury, but is expected to return to first team action in mid-November, meaning the attacker would be available to head to the Emirates Stadium in January fully fit.
