Arsenal have reportedly jumped to the front of the race for Juventus striker Fernando Llorente despite being in competition with Manchester United.
The Metro claims that Arsenal are close to completing a deal for the striker, and it is expected to be made official on Tuesday.
The deal for the 30-year-old, who has spent the last two seasons with Juventus, is expected to be worth £8.56m.
Although his production dipped somewhat in the 2014-15 season, the Spanish international scored nine goals while helping lead his team to the UEFA Champions League Final.
Llorente has scored 27 goals over the last two seasons, which has undoubtedly intrigued Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Wenger is keen to see the Gunners upgrade at striker, as Olivier Giroud’s inconsistent play has caused him to desire competition.
The Gunners already boosted their attack last summer by signing Alexis Sanchez, but they are now looking to add a threat to ease the burden on him.
