With the goalkeeper position solidified, Arsenal now have a midfield star in their sights: Southampton’s Morgan Scheniderlin.
According to the Metro, respected journalist Charlie Wyett revealed publicly that the 25-year-old French midfielder will be joining the Gunners in another move that could all but guarantee their ascension to the top of the Premier League table in 2014-15.
“I think Morgan Schneiderlin will be joining Arsenal,” Wyett said. “He would be a good signing along with (newly-signed goalkeeper) Petr Cech.”
Though Man United has been viewed as the club closest to securing the Southampton star’s services next season, Wyett has a pretty decent track record when it comes to Arsenal exclusives.
Schneiderlin is coming off his 7th season with Southampton and has made 94 Premier League appearances with the club since they were promoted from the Championship League in 2012. In the past three years, Schneiderlin has recorded 11 Premier League goals and 12 total goals, and was voted the Southampton FC Fans’ Player of the Season in 2013.
The French midfielder is coming off a season-ending knee injury he suffered in late April but should be good-to-go come the start of the next season.
