Nice goalkeeper David Ospina has emerged as a transfer target for English giants Arsenal, but the North Londoners might only sign the Colombian international if he impresses at the World Cup this month, reports the Daily Star.
The 25-year old is rated at £3.5 million, which is a very acceptable price even by Arsenal’s stingy standards, but a lot will depend on whether Ospina can impress in Brazil. Ospina already has 42 caps for his national side, and is probably also the right age to compete with and develop alongside Arsenal’s first choice keeper, Wojciech Szczesny.
Arsenal need a goalkeeper steady enough to replace recently departed Lukasz Fabianski, and cover ably for Szczesny. The Gunners, however, might also need another 3rd choice goalie, who will probably be a developing youngster, who would get very few opportunities in an Arsenal shirt.
Ospina is one among the many goalies that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is courting though and one cannot be sure whether any of them would be ready to come to Arsenal to become second choice to Szczesny.
