The Spaniard, who joined from Malaga back in 2013, seems keen to return to La Liga this summer after two and a half successful seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
Although Monreal has displaced Kieran Gibbs as first choice at left-back this season, it seems the 29-year-old may be keen to secure more guaranteed first-team football elsewhere, having often been a squad player during his stint in England.
Still, this will come as some blow for Arsenal after winning silverware for a second consecutive season, with Monreal proving a key performer for the club this term.
It may be that Arsenal are prepared for his exit, however, with rumours in recent months suggesting they could be eyeing a move for promising young Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya.
