According to the Sunday Express, the striker is now closer to a move to Old Trafford as Louis Van Gaal continues to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
With Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin expected to join Matteo Darmian at the club this week, the Dutch tactician isn’t likely to stop there in his bid to build a title-winning squad.
Higuain has been linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer, although the 27-year-old will face a difficult battle pushing a move through given that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is adamant he will not leave for anything less than his €90m release clause.
Whether or not the Argentinian ace moves on this summer remains to be seen, but United are certainly in need of another attacking option after selling Robin Van Persie to Fenerbahce last week.
The Red Devils are also looking potentially facing some headaches in their defensive line depending on whether or not certain moves happen, and so Van Gaal is likely to move quickly on to his next targets.
