Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas looks unlikely to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer…
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger might now have to look at other goalkeeping reinforcements as his top goalie target Iker Casillas might not be leaving Real Madrid this summer. Casillas’ partner, journalist Sara Carbonero, has hinted that the Spanish goalie will stay put in Madrid beyond this summer. She told El Mundo, “I expect my future to be in Madrid, which is where I am now.”
Casillas also recently had a son with Carbonero, and the Daily Express reports that family commitments could deter the Spanish No.1 from leaving his boyhood club to play in London.
The news comes as a big blow to the Gunners though as they are desperate to find the right replacement for Lukasz Fabianski, who recently joined Swansea after his contract with Arsenal expired at the end of the season. Wenger would ideally want an experienced goalie like Casillas to give his No.1 Wojciech Szczesny stiff competition, but one will have to wait and see whether the French manager can find a capable goalie to challenge the Pole next season.
