Serie A side Palermo are ready to pay Arsenal’s asking price for fringe attacker Joel Campbell, according to reports.
The Costa Rican international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates this summer, and Fichajes [via Metro] reports he is edging closer towards a move to Palermo.
Palermo reportedly failed to meet the Gunners’ £7.1m asking price last month with an initial bid, but now reports suggest the Italian side are ready to match the Premier League club’s valuation and bring the 23-year-old to the Stadio Renzo Barbera.
Campbell has struggled to make an impact with the Gunners, but impressed during his season-long loan stint with Olympiacos during the 2013/14 season, helping the Greek giants win the domestic title.
After a strong showing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Campbell returned to Arsenal before being loaned out to La Liga club Villarreal.
He was left out of both of Arsenal’s matchday squads in the opening two games of the current season.
